The ESC 8864 Data Controller: development is underway on this next generation device. With a planned release in the first quarter of 2011, the ESC 8864 Data Controller contains many new features designed to make your job easier.
The ESC 8832 Data Controller: provides a solid foundation for our premier CEMS compliance software, ESC|StackVision. The 8832 Data Controller is specifically designed to perform the CEMS operations you need.
About the 8832
The 8832 Data Controller bridges the gap between the StackVision software and the instruments performing the pollutant measurements in the CEMS shelter. It provides the CEMS technician with the operator interface needed to easily control calibration functions and input/output settings. The intuitive, menu-driven interface allows the technician to perform these tasks without having to modify ladder logic or computer programs.
The 8832 Data Controller performs the required regulatory calculations in real-time. Whether by viewing the data on the controller display or on a plant DCS, this allows the user the ability to see exactly how the unit is operating at any given moment. Critical operational decisions are much easier made when up-to-date information is available.
The 8832 Data Controller is designed for stand-alone operation. Even when communications to the StackVision computer are unavailable, the required regulatory functions continue to take place. These functions include daily calibrations, data calculations and data storage. When communications are restored, the information is automatically updated back to the main server.
About the 8864
Just as the 8832 enhanced its predecessor with the introduction of an Ethernet port, it's time for the 8864 to set the new standard for Data Controllers. The ESC 8864 Data Controller will contain many exciting new features including a graphical user interface (GUI) which utilizes a touch screen, dual 100 Mbps Ethernet ports which will allow network communications with a DCS or a rack of analyzers to be isolated from the StackVision polling network. The USB ports allow devices such as a mouse, keyboard or memory stick, and more to be utilized. The 8864 Data Controller will also have ten times the amount of CPU speed and memory, and a vast increase in the available size for data storage. Even with all of these new features, the 8864 will still fit easily into a space currently housing the 8832 Data Controller and, in most cases, no wiring modifications will be required.
In addition, the 8864 will also be more tightly coupled with the ESC|StackVision system, allowing configuration modifications made at the Data Controller to be immediately reflected at the server. Communication associated with data polling and configuration downloads will take place almost instantaneously.
ESC continues its quest to provide a best in class Data Controller by partnering with Data Controller customers, adding additional value to the 8864 systems. Even with all of these enhancements, there's still more to come. Stay tuned for additional announcements on exciting new features being developed soon!
